I installed SPISP which seems to be working. I'd like to be able to test it. Is there any way to test it. When I forwarded mail messages that were identified as spam from my other mail accounts they were not detected as spam by SFISP. I am guessing this is because forwarding from a credible account (i.e. not from a spammer ISP).

Also, while I was testing your software I sent a number of messages and consequently I think my ISP's Ip was placed in your black list. I am guessing the from the following message that I receive from that ISP's mail:

.net 007: This e-mail message was undeliverable due to the
following reason:

.net 016: The destination mail system refused to accept your e-mail
message.

Note: This error message is usually due to the following:
a. A mis-configured account.
b. The mail delivery system on the destination mail system.
c. It could be caused by your message because some mail systems refuse
messages with invalid header information, or if they are over a certain
size.

Solution 1:
If this is the first time the destination mail system refused to accept
your e-mail message, attempt to resend the e-mail message again.

Solution 2:
If the destination mail system has refused to accept your e-mail message
multiple times, attempt to resend, or contact the recipient by alternate
means and let them know about the issue.

Your message was rejected by modomain.com for the following reason:

Your IP 205.152.59.66 is currently listed in SpamFilter ISP's Distributed Blacklist. Please see http://www.logsat.com/SFDB/why.asp for details.

The following recipients did not receive this message:

user@domain.com

SpamFilter bases most of its tests on the IP address issuing the connection. If you simply forward spam emails, the IP address you use to forward the email is not the one the spammer used, so many of the IP-based tests will fail. Furthermore, as other tests rely on the the envelope of the sender by checking the MX records and SPF records of the sender's domain, if you forward the email the "sender" will be you, not the address used by the spammer. The only way to test SpamFilter is to have it receive real email traffic.

Your ISP (if 205.152.59.66 if your ISP's IP) is indeed being blacklisted in the SFDB database, as they are actually sending spam right now. Please note that you are not responsible for having them blacklisted. An IP ends up on our SFDB only if they send multiple spam emails to *severale* of our sensors throughout the internet in a short period of time. A single user would never cause the blacklisting unless they were really sending **out to the internet** massive amounts of spam. You are only sending emails to a single location, and furthermore your evaluation copy of SpamFilter does not report spammer IPs to our SFDB...

Your ISP can contact us by email if they wish, and we can provide them with a list of the malicious outgoing SMTP connections that are causing the problem. This will allow them to correlate their mail/firewall logs to identify the source of spam/viruses within their own network.
