I get a run time error "R6025 Pure virtual function call Error" from spamfilter when releasing item from qurantine. spamfilter then crashes. Only log entry in system log says:"The SpamFilter service terminated unexpectedly". Must admit it is not aften at all. and it is not critical as it is very infrequent. I assume spamfilter uses MFC. Like to know what are DLL dependencies of spamfilter and which revision(s) of DLL must be on a healthy system for spamfilter to function correctly. i have Win2000 server SP4+ with all patches applied. It is MFC4.2?? I read that ...The error gets thrown whenever a function pointer is NULL, which, 99% of the time is a pure virtual function call. so if spamfilter has no virtual function, then it must be programing errror? Some say that... using virtual function is just bad programing practice. (more like programing error). Assuming SF doesn't have them...then a funtion pointer is NULL some where... Any clue?

Actually SpamFilter does *not* use the MFC... However some of the OLE BD / ODBC drivers do use it. It is very possible that if an ODBC drivers causes an access violation, it "propagates" to SpamFilter. We try to catch all errors caused by ODBC problems, but can't foresee them all. The simplest thing to do it to update the MDAC (microsoft data access components) from http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/ to see it that solves the problem.
If you can also please look at the last entries in SpamFilter's activity logfile right after a crash, and post them here, they may have some clues on if we can prevent this in the future. |
