Could it be possible to add some more statistical futures to SF? I know(and do it right now) we can parse log files to get daily /monthly statistics on how many mails sent trough SF and how much% blocked as spam and virus… What I really would like to see is SF logging directly to a DB or a separate statistic-log.file daily, weekly, monthly statistics? Thanks, Web |

Just my opinion but logging to a database would be one more way to add high load to the server. I think the flat text files are the most efficient ... if slightly inconvienient. |

Desperado is correct, SpamFilter already does enough and can easily be configured to work a server into the ground. Parsing logfiles into a database separately, though, is an excellent way to provide auding and unlimited reporting on email SpamFilter traffic. I have a parsing program available if you are interested. Spent countless hours on it so, it's not free, but you can try it for free, of course. I'm about done updating it for the current release. Register and download eval if you're interested. Gets more detail on each email processed than any other option, as far as I know. Latest version supports current SpamFilter build: http://www.ServerBoss.com/SF2DB -Matt Edited by pcmatt |

My thought was maybe cache the stats in SF, and ones a day write them to DB, but textiles sounds ok as well. Web |

I use Sawmill to parse the logs and I too have spnet "countless hours" creating a parse "Plugin" that works well.

Damn, I thought I was the only one that spent "countless hours" writing tools to help with the war on spam. Don't feel quite so bad now about wasting my youth. |

Right, and what could be more satisfying than writing code to parse out millions of lines of ever changing text to combine into one record for each email? Answer - We couldn't survive without the reports we get from the audit database we build. -Matt Edited by pcmatt |
