Hi, We have just started trialling SPAMFilter for our own internal email with a view to also using it for our Hosting Business (we provide web hosting and related services). My question is that if we configure SPAMFilter to always forward Spam and not to qurantine it, will it ever "learn" and increase in efficiency or would we not be seeing the full benefit of the software by not using the quarantine system. Our own office has just over 50 users and the thought of having to go through all their email everyday seemed like a daunting task. And lastly, does the registered version work with Terminal Services unlike the trial version? Thanks for any reply. |

For the first question, you MUST use the quarantine for the Bayesian filter to work and it is very important to send the false positives during the initial learning process. On the second question, The SpamFilter GUI is a "Console Application" and as such will not work through Terminal Services. We use DameWare's "MiniRemote and it works very well and in inexpensive. Mark, Dan is right about Terminal Services and the delivery of false positives during the training phase in his response. I have to make a correction regarding the quarantine and the Bayesian filter however. In the earlier beta versions, the quarantine needed to be enabled. In the latest releases however the quarantine is not needed anymore, and even if you choose to "tag and deliver" SpamFilter will still learn about good and bad emails. Roberto F. |
