I have tried to set up the program using the mx record change and pointing the spam filter to our email server. I am getting a [2468] listen exception occured: external exception 80000003 according to the stats no connection are being made. I would sure love to see this work it looks like an option for our mail server (we are an ISP) |

Do you have a mail program on the same machine listening on the same port? Dan |

In your INI File, there is an entry: This should be the actual IP (or one of the IPs) on your machine. If the IP is "private, and your router / firewall is translating it, it still must be the actual IP bound to the ethernet card. Is that the case? Regards, Edited by Desperado |

Davide,
Usually the "listen exception" message indicates that SpamFilter is not able to listen on the IP / port assigned to it since they are already taken by another application. By default SpamFilter will listen on port 25 on all IPs assigned to the server. If there is already another application on the server using port 25 SpamFilter will not able to use that port. One way to find out what application is using port 25 is to issue the following command from a DOS prompt: telnet aa.bb.cc.dd 25 where aa.bb.cc.dd is the server's IP address. The telnet banner will usually indicate what application is listening on that port. Sometimes applications will take control of a port but will not output a banner. In that case, the telnet command will make a connection, but you will not see any banners. |

Davide,
Could you stop SpamFilter, then let us know the outcome of the DOS command above: telnet aa.bb.cc.dd 25 where aa.bb.cc.dd is the IP you configured SpamFilter to listen on? Can you then restart SpamFilter, and post the contents of the activity tab so we can see the error message? |

If you have an NT/Windows Server make sure SpamFilter is not started and not running as a server and from a command prompt type: netstat -an That will show you what's going on with port 25 -Matt |
