When I launch spamfilter I get a window error message box saying "socket error: #10049 Cannot assign requested address" We are running windows 2000 server sp4. My suspicion is someone hacked into our server because I noticed remote admin was running on port 4889 and was hiden. Remote admin is for our techies who can remotely login to manage the server but its never on that port and the file r_server.exe was buried deep into folders.
any idea how to fix the error? thank you. |

John,The "Socket error cannot assing address" most of the times means that the IP/port SpamFilter is trying to listen on is already being used by another application. This is usually another mailserver, or another copy of SpamFilter running on the same server. You can get an idea of what this application is by issuing the following from a DOS prompt on the server:telnet nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn 25when nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address SpamFilter is configured to listen on, or the name of the server. The reponse SMTP banner will usually indicate what that application is.Roberto F.
