I have installed the 2.1.1.380 release to fix the problem with the spf logging loop...a problem now exists in the system and it will not run as a service...I am getting Error 193 0xc1. Don't know what that means but I have tried reboot, reinstall, etc. and no luck. The system is now running as a standalone app not a service but I need to fix that soon...Terry

update on problem with service...it now seems that several services get win32 errors....I am afraid that I now need to rebuild the server and install spamfilter clean...what a bummer...update this post when you get a chance...I will be back in the office tomorrow to rebuild the server and will check here first...Terry

Terry, we at LogSat try to make your reinstall as easy as possible. If you make a backup copy of your SpamFilter directory, all you have to do is to copy it back on your new server. No neeed to reinstall anything... We don't have any registry entries nor DLLs scattered all over your server. Just run the SpamFilter.exe standalone program, all your settings will be there, and from the GUI choose to "Install Service". That's all for SpamFilter to work. For you other Microsoft apps it's all another story :-)Roberto F.

Roberto, I did move the old one back and it also will no longer run as a service...it gets the same win32 error message. I don't know what happened with this I am baffled. What was weird is that even after moving back the program it still said it was version 380 until I rebooted the server...that seemed odd. Anyway I am on my way into work tomorrow to get this going again with a newly rebuilt server...Terry

Terry,Can you double checks to ensure you do not have another instance of SpamFilter running on the server? An easy way is to check the processes in the Task Manager. You may be experiencing a conflict with either SpamFilter or another SMTP-related application that is taking control of port 25 (or whatever port you configured in SpamFilter).Roberto F.

Roberto, I am pretty sure that no other instance was running but I have finished constructing another server and installing the new release on that box..It seems to be running very well so I am happy for now. I will check the old server tomorrow but I think it too late to see anything on that one. Thanks anyway. Terry |

Look for a file in your root C: simply called "program" (without the quotes). Rename or delete it, and try starting your service again. |
