We have released to the public the beta for the new version of SpamFilter ISP v2.0.0.267. This release features statistical DNA fingerprinting of emails, which should allow greater accuracy in fighting SPAM.

The beta can be obtained from SpamFilter's download page at http://www.logsat.com/sfi-download.asp.

This version should again attempt to address memory leaks present in the previous betas.

Please read the beta notes carefully. The first hundreds/thousands of emails received are critical in obtaining an accurate statistical database. It is important that when building your first database the number of false positives (good emails classified as spam) be kept at a minimum. For this reason it may be a good idea to start running the new version during the day, when there is usually a higher traffic of legitimate emails.

Hi Roberto, question for you. If we did not quaruntine messages for maps servers, so basically those messages just get disconnected and never read. The data from those messages does not get added to the corpus database? Is that correct?

Yes, in the beta this is the current behavior. It will be fixed to add the emails to the corpus even if they are not quarantined in future betas/final release.

Thanks for the report!

Ok, so what are the conditions for data to be added to the corpus database? Currently I quaruntine all messages, does this mean all messages that get quaruntined are added to the database?

That is correct, all quarantined messages and all emails that are delivered are examined and their tokens added to the corpus database.

Roberto,

What is the relationship between v1.2.0.206 and 2.0.0.267? Seems like the version counter has been "stalled" on 206 for months now. I just found your references to v2 releases in the forum, but didn't find any indication on the download page about v2. "Beta" releases came out via the version counter before. No longer?

Tx,

Robert
