I have a platform that sends faxes via Email. When the Email
is generated, it puts the senders phone number in the "From:"
part of the header. So it looks like this:From: "800-555-1212"@foo.comSpamFilter is getting the correct "Mail from" but is converting this
address to "@foo.com" (no quotes however) and passing it on.
It is stripping the quoted field. (and thus becoming a protocol violation
for the downstream Mail Handlers......)

If you can either post here or email us support@logsat.com a full copy of such a header when the email is processed by SpamFilter and another of an email received without SpamFilter we'll take a look. Roberto Franceschetti |

The problem is caused by the "From" missing the "<" and ">" brackets in the address. If the header was specified correctly as Name: 1-630-572-6357 Email: @http://www.personalreachmanager.com I think that the RFC interpretation is as SpamFilter sees it. BUT... You are correct in that Netscape (and others, including ours) SMTP servers instead interpret it differently. SO... In a few days we'll release a new build with a fix to recognize that address format.Roberto Franceschetti |
