Topic: Bogus message from LogSat serverPosted: 12 November 2003 at 5:29am |

Somebody is (apparently) running LogSat's Software ESMTP and tries to send us mail. We do SMTP callbacks to check the sender address.
The LogSat server sends a completely bogus error message ("521 That ,is not NULL,impersonated, or violates our policy.......") and then our server is refusing the mail. What is happening? Is that LogSat server wrongly configured? Does it need to be upgraded?
It is not our problem, but maybe the postmaster can be advised.RobNov 12 10:44:04 firewall smtpd[4019]: <<< MAIL FROM:

We have forwarded your message to the possible owners of the server. It looks like a misconfiguration in one of SpamFilter's settings. Thanks for the report, Roberto F. |

--- well we just called and everything is fine. however the fact that my domains are impersonated by the sober virus, and by spammers, is bad news for all of us.... the thought was : you must be compatible with your customers, they use old and buggy software, sometimes your it management forces you to use old or buggy software... that`s bad... if you consider that rob of uw.nl, and i really know what to do...., and how to avoid spam and configure mailservers.... it`s a hell of a job. -eric-

it was a temporary config to have the other isp be able to filter on... what rob does wrong is vrfy.... you better don`t use vrfy ... no one uses it, except adress harvesters... read on : http://www.logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/showmessage.asp?messageID=2378
