Running the latest 395 v. Corpus.ini [Messages] d. www@http://www.ww to xxx@xxx.xx passes Bayesian filter - 0% spam (109ms) and it is spam ?????

Bo,The latest build of SpamFilter has a pie chart in the "Statistics - Emails by filter" tab that shows how many emails were blocked by the various filters. The Bayesian filter learns as more and more emails are received, and initially relies on the other filters to "learn". It is normal that some spam will go undetected by the statistical filter, unfortunately no filter is perfect.Roberto F.

Okay, is bayesian filter only working when the "onhold" database is full of spam mail, or is it okay to let users emty out the unwantet mail.

Also if you do not quarrenten your email does the Bayesian filter still learn from the spam ? I have over 500,000 emails blocked by my system and I do not think I have ever seen the Bayesian filter ever stop a single one. Also the new filter stat is great but does it show spam blocked by the Bayesian filter ? Lee |

Yes, the Bayesian filter still learns even with the quarantine database disabled. The filter stats will show blocked email stats from the quarantine database, so quarantine does have to be enabled for that to work.
If there are no stats from the Bayesian filter, that should mean that there are no emails blocked by that filter in the database. Please note that the Bayesian filter is one of the last filters to be checked, so other filters are much more likely to block spam before the statistical engine even has a chance to see the message. As a comparison, this is what our own stats look right now for our mailserver:94,828 IP found in MAPS search
74,161 IP address is from a blacklisted country
10,810 Invalid sender domain MX record
7,896 SPF Sender Policy Framework match
3,044 Keywords found in content
763 Exceeded maximum number of RCPT TO
526 Mail From and Mail To domains are equal
345 Statistical filter match
