Hi,
I need to be able to have users send mail thru SF. I have both in and out servers setting set to mail.xxx.com but right now I have both the SF nad my regular email program on the same machine, this is temporary but I have to figure it out.
I have SF listening on port 25 and our regular email software on 26 so SF just forwards to port 26 but the problem is when a customer tries to send mail it goes thru SF port 25 and it fails because SF says "- rejected - no relay allowed or % found in FROM address"
Ho do I let it send my customers Email???

Lee,
SpamFilter was originally designed to allow incoming emails only so they could be filtered for spam. To allow internal users the ability to use it as an SMTP relay, SpamFilter must be "told" which users are allowed to do so. This can be done wither by specifying the IP address(es) of the allowed senders, or by using SMTP Authentication. SpamFilter is able to authenticate users via Active Directory, LDAP, or with Unix-style password files. We even support SSL over SMTP for added security. All authenticated users are allowed to use SpamFilter to relay emails. |

How do you use the Unix password file? I played with it but I dont know how to use 'crypto', any help is appreciated.
If I use the IP address's to cover the majority of the customers where exactly do I put them?

The IP address to be whitelisted are added to the "Excluded Domains / IPs" tab in SpamFilter, found under the tab: Settings - Configuration - Black / White Lists. For the Unix-style passwords, if your SMTP server is Unix-based, the password file will already be found on the server. For Windows, there are several utilities available that will take a list of users and plain-text passwords and create the encrypted password file. I've placed one of the free utility we ourselves use every now and then to create such files. It's available at: www.logsat.com/spamfilter/pub/passwd.zip |
