Is there a way to configure SF so that it accepts all bogus email addressed to our legitimate domain, but does not pass it on to the mail server and does not send a 550 message? Whitelisting the emailTO should prevent it from being passed to the email server. How to prevent the 550 messages?

Several of the blacklist filters support the :NoNDR and :NULL options, both of which reject messages while *not* sending a 55x error code back to the sender.
In the SpamFilter.ini files the following option is available globally to prevent the 55x code (and thus preventing NDRs): ;Setting DoNotSendNDROnQuarantine to 1 will prevent generation of NDR when email are quarantined by causing SpamFilter *not* to send an error code when quarantining emails DoNotSendNDROnQuarantine=0 |

Is there a setting to use to prevent NDRs when messages are classified as spam , but not quarantined? I just don't want to keep dumping the quarantine messages.

no, sorry, that option only works when emails are quarantined. Please see www.logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=5807 for another option.
