Last Monday I implemented the latest version of SpamFilter ISP into production for the first time. I noticed after a few days false positives were being created by the SFDB scanning of the application. I did leave the default setting of 3 for the network reliability.

I love this feature but to reduce the potential of false positives what has the happy medium been for the SFDB network reliability other than that of 3.

Any information that you provide would greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Liam

Liam,

As more and more companies use SpamFilter, we increase the miniumum threshold necessary to block IPs on our backend server. In reality, the minimum threshold right now is 10, whichi overrides your minnimum of 3.

Unfortunately the SFDB is very accurate. If an IP is listed, it is very, very likely that it has been sending spam. What is also likely is that a legitimate company has misconfigured their email server, and that has caused huge amounts of spam from being sent from that IP, without knowledge of their administrators. You can use the registered user area of our website to see "why" the IP is blocked, including all the different spam categories they "triggered" on various SpamFilter installations that caused it to be detected as spam.

This is interesting, so basically if anyone is using a value of < 10 it is having no effect.

It would be nice if you could publish in the members area the current value you are using.  That way we would know if we want the system to be softer or harder towards SPAM we need to be higher than your current value.
