When using ADS as authentication method in an mixed ADS-enviroment the Auth funktion does not work corectly

example:
The ADS name is "someThing.someDomain.someTLD" and the pre-windows-2000 name (for NT 4.0) ist "someDomain.somaTLD" (note: with DOT) you are not able to login via SMTP-Auth with username
"someDomain.somaTLD\username".

Alle other logins work very fine with mailto:username@someThing.someDomain.someTLD - "username@someThing.someDomain.someTLD " oder with "someDomain.someTLD\username".

Only the login with mailto:username@someThing.someDomain.someTLD - "username@someThing.someDomain.someTLD " work.

Sorry, we missed this post.
...Actually we were not able to replicate the problem and forgot to update the thread.

All the following should work:

username@someDomain.somaTLD
username@someThing.someDomain.somaTLD
someDomain.somaTLD\username

The only one that should not work is:
someThing.someDomain.somaTLD\username

Can you please check the security logs on the domain controllers to see if there's any entries that could give you a clue as to what may be happening? Please note that SpamFilter is simply asking the Windows API on the server to authenticate the user, there are no "unusual" authentication calls being made as it happens with several Unix-based products.
