Hi

We're using SpamFilter  3.1.3.597 in a W2003 Server with the latest patches & SPs.

The problem is that each 4 hours the Activity logs comes to something like this:

08/18/06 11:54:17:187 -- (3404) Socket Error # 10055 -- No buffer space available. - forwarding to:207.44.242.4 - message queued - mailto:Marquita@scififan.com08/18/06 - Marquita@scififan.com08/18/06 11:54:17:234 -- (1572) Sending email from  to mailto:israel@alojate.com - israel@alojate.com --
08/18/06 11:54:17:234 -- (1572) Socket Error # 10055 -- No buffer space available. - forwarding to:67.15.71.158 - message queued -

-- Trying to "Flush now" the Queue does not solves, problem persists.

-- The only way to put the server back to operating normally is "Restarting".

-- With the unregistred version this did not happen. Now with the registered version the problem is coming around each 4 to 6 hours.

Can some one help please?

Lgmarin,

Considering that hundreds of users are successfully running 3.1.3.597 and not encountering this issue, it would have to be a resource or hardware anomally at your location.

Have you installed a personal firewall on that box or made any hardware or software changes since you were running OK?

Have you tried putting the unregistered version back on long enough to see if it does or does not work?

We are running 3.1.3.597 on 2003 with latest patches and don't see this issue.

Igmarin,

The error "Socket Error # 10055 -- No buffer space available" being logged is actually a Windows error that SpamFilter encounters when attempting to open an outgoing TCP connection to your destination mail server.

It is a Winsock TCP error that usually indicates a lack of system resources on the server. This is the detailed description of the error:

WSAENOBUFS
10055
No buffer space available.
An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full.

One of the possible causes of this error is an improper paging file setting that was causes the server to run low on resources. Can you please ensure your paging file is set to "System managed size"?

Another cause could be viruses. Do you have antivirus software running on the server? A virus that propagates by email could cause the symptoms you see.
