Hi all,

Could somebody clarify the difference between the two options under Quarantine DB.

"Enter the number of days to store quarantined rejected emails"

"Enter the interval in minutes for when the expired emails are deleted from the quarantine database"

Thanks.

Absolutely...

  • The first rule, "Enter the number of days to store quarantined rejected emails", identifies how old a message has to be in order to be automatically deleted from quarantine.
EDIT: The corresponding setting for this rule within SpamFilter.ini is called ArchiveSpamDays
  • The second rule, "Enter the interval in minutes for when the expired emails are deleted from the quarantine database", is how often SpamFilter will check the quarantine for any messages that exceed the maximum age that is set in the first rule.
EDIT: The corresponding setting for this rule within SpamFilter.ini is called DeleteExpiredEmailInterval
For example, my quarantine has rule 1 set to 31 days, and rule 2 set to 120 minutes.  Therefore, every 2 hours, SpamFilter checks for any quarantined messages that are older than 31 days.

I hope that helps.

Stephen

OK, thats what I thought, so if the second value was higher than the first, it would in effect extend ArchiveSpamDays - not that you'd need to do that, but just to clarify.
