Hi,

I am in the process of migrating to a new exchange server.  The old server is running the Spam Filter software.

Old server is Windows 2000 with Exchange 2000.

New server is Windows 2003 with Exchange 2003.

I moved a mailbox to the new server and it can receive mail and even send it out over the internet.  However, any mail send to internal users that are on the old server is blocked by the spam filter.

How do I tell the filter to allow the new serve to connect and send mail to the old one?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Ed Pack.

Ed,

If I understand correctly, your "new" server is sending emails addressed to your users directly to SpamFilter, rather than sending them directly to your "old" Exchange server. If so, then SpamFilter will treat your "new" server no differently than any other server on the internet, and will apply all spam filtering rules to the incoming messages. Some of the filters may indeed cause failures, as to SpamFilter it will look like someone on the internet is trying to spoof your email domain to send you emails.
In this case, you will probably want to either add the IP address of your "new" server in SpamFilter's IP whitelist, or reconfigure the "new" server so that it sends emails directly to the old Exchange server, bypassing SpamFilter.

I've added the IP address to the "local domains" white list as well as the "excluded domains/IPs".

Using the Debug tool I get the following message on the spam filter:

<<557>> You are not allowed to send mail to SKYNT-IS @ mailto:S@domain.skyranch.org - domain.skyranch.org .

In the activity log is says "...rejected - no relay allowed or % found in FROM address.

Please help!

Thanks!

Ed.

The IP address should be added to the "Excluded Domains / IPs" whitelist. If you've done that and still receive the "no relay allowed" there must be something else not working. Please zip us at support @ logsat.com a copy of your SpamFilter's activity log, and also please let us know the IP's of the servers, so we can try to find out more.
