I am seeing Norman AV error:

Could not initialize Norman A/V engine - error $00010015

This is an installation on my test server in my lab (where I install and test SF before upgrading in my production environment.
The error is occuring in 2.6.3.473 and the previous release version 2.5.2.457, but only in my test lab.

I have purchased both spamfilter ISP and the AV plugin.

Any ideas about what is causing this or how to fix it?

Thanks,

Wayne

Wayne,

This often occurs if the antivirus plugin has not been installed, or is not installed in the SpamFilter directory. Can you please try to reinstall the A/V plugin, ensuring that you select SpamFilter's directory during the install? If it still does not work, can you please zip and email us SpamFilter's activity log for the day so we can try to see what is happening?

Hi Roberto, I reinstalled the AV plugin but still see the issue when spamfilter starts. Spamfilter is running on windows 2003 enterprise, with exchange 2003 enterprise. I have the exact same setup in my production environment, without the issue. Installation was completed in an identical manner (it is fully documented step by step for disaster recovery purposes).
The AV does seem to succeed when checking for updates.

I am zipping up the log file and sending it to support.

Wayne,

Thanks for all the info and files. With the latter ones we were able to finally replicate the problem. Somehow your virus definition files appeared to be corrupted. Can you please stop SpamFilter, and replace the 3 files in the SpamFilter\ns2\bin directory:

NVCBIN.DEF
nvcincr.def
NVCMACRO.DEF

with the same files from your "working" install of SpamFilter, and then restart SpamFilter? This should clear out the problem and allow SpamFilter to correctly initialize the antivirus engine.
