Verizon has been blocking ISP's, domains and specific email addresses from outside the US and using as an excuse the proliferation of viruses and spam.

The addresses that were blocked on my account are in Canada, Taiwan and Italy (and who knowss here else) and are all reputable companies with whom I have been doing business with for years.

After some 3 hours of calling, emailing and "help desk" chatting the only solution offered by Verizon was a suggestion that I se a 3rd party email routher (Yahoo, etc) for emails OR to "upgrade" to a business acoount for roughly twice the price.

The solution to this one is to switch to ATT or some other ISP that doesn't have such a woefully inadequate security program that they, like Verizon will sacrifice the welfare of the customer.

Second, I received an email form Verizon today about a Tax Recovery Charge tha I must begin to pay, (and, I am assuming millions of other Verizon DSL customers) because Verizon "has to pay a fee" for the DSL from "The Phone Company"...correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Verizon THE 'PHONE COMPANY?!!

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FORM VERIZON!

I finally decided to join the class action brought by a Philadelphia law firm Kohn, Swift & Graf.  You can check it out at http://www.kohnswift.com/  This firm as a good rate of success representing consumers against mega-companies like Verizon.

I have been trying to resolve the issue with Verizon since the beginning of December, when I realized that none the emails from my friends in Great Britain or Russia are getting through, (nor my emails were getting through to my correspondents there).  To date, I have opened about 20 “problem tickets” with  Verizon to no avail.  Verizon asked me for the list of emails and domains of my correspondents so that they would “unblock” them just for my account.  I gave that list to Verizon already four times.  Each time, representatives left me a phone message that the domains had been “unblocked” and I should have no trouble receiving/sending email.  Needless to say, still not a single email made it through.  However, I continue to receive plenty of free gift/Viagra spam which apparently does not bother Verizon as much as international emails.
