Is there any way of removing all the information from the Activity log and just show me the connections?  Going through these log files are very cumbersome because of all the passes and loadfromfile and other information that gets put in there.  Thanks.

Gus,

Please note that I am a SpamFilter user ... not Tech Support.

Having said that, Mail server logging is historically VERY complete and yes, I suppose that the word cumbersome would apply.  However,  there is really nothing in the SpamFilter logs that is superfluous and in fact, running a mail server on a public network requires a certain amount of "culpability" and often, log are your only audit trail.  This is why there are log file parsers such as SawMill.

I don't know how much mail you handle but we generate over 100Meg of logs from just one server alone and have several scripts to auto-archive them and do a daily parse.  As an ISP, we are required to keep accurate logging in case of abuse issues and I personally would feel blind with out them.

If you know Perl at all, it is a perfect language to use to grab only the information you want from the logs and ignore all the SMTP communication that you may not require for your application.

Regards,

Dan S
