Hi,

I have been evaluating the SPF features of the current trial version (2.1.1.367) of SpamFilter, and have experienced a severe problem whereby one particular retrieved SPF entry appears to cause SpamFilter to continually re-analyse and fail (over 100 times a second!) causing huge impact on the logfile to the point of grinding the host machine to a halt after generating over a gigabyte of entries during the course of a few hours.

I have example logfile available if you require any further information.

Many thanks
Rob

Apologies all.

Despite browsing the forums prior to posting, I only found Terry's post just a moment ago, covering exactly the same issue with (interestingly) exactly the same SPF record.

http://www.logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/showmessage.asp?messageID=4281" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. ‘Open message: ‘SPF process got in a loop last night’’ - SPF process got in a loop last night by Terry (‘Terry’) on Thursday, 16th September 2004

I suppose the obvious question now is... when is a version which addresses this issue going to be available for evaluation?

Thanks
Rob

Rob,

We routinely make available to licensed users the latest builds of SpamFilter. In your particulare case, when the bug was reported to us, a fix was made available within hours.

The free version is updated on a less frequent basis, we usually release a new free version to coincide with a major upgrade on the commercial release. We're working to add an antivirus plugin, but it will be several weeks when that will be ready. Most likely at that time a new free version will be released as well.
