Subject: Do not quarantine rejected emails from... not working

Hi,

I'm evaluating SF v.2.0.1.302 and configured the attachments black list with *.scr, *.pif, etc. I've marked the "Do not quarantine reject..." option but emails containing those attachments do continue to quarantine.

Some help, or hint apreciated!

Thanks

PSeixas

Not sure if I should answer or not...but I too am evaluating the product and ran into the same problem.  The fix for me was to add a dummy keyword to filter like abbadabba (something that should never occur in an email).  This activates the attachment blocking logic.  Apparently this is a known problem with the demo version that was fixed in a later release.  (note that I am not from Logsat so don't take this as the final answer...but it worked for me).

PSeixas,

Terry was correct in his response (thanks Terry!). That is a known bug in the free version. For the workaround please http://www.logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/showmessage.asp?messageID=3634" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - see this posting .

Hi,

My emails do become blocked. The problem is that when I checked the “Do not quarantine…” option, they do continue to appear in the quarantine list of blocked emails. Because of some false positives, I’ve to quarantine, and because of that, and the fact that emails with those attachments don’t delete automatically, I’ve a lot of emails to see when looking for false positives. I’ve an active keyword list that’s working fine. The only problem is the fact that e-mails that I’ve checked for deletion, keep on appearing in the quarantine list.

Thanks once more,

PSeixas

Paulo,

That is another bug in the free version that was fixed in later builds. Following are the release notes for the particular build released a while ago:

// New to VersionNumber = '2.0.1.309';
{TODO -cNew : When the SpamFilter.ini is updated the event is logged}
{TODO -cNew : Added the :TAG option to the AuthorizedTO whitelist to tag emails classified as spam}
{TODO -cNew : Updated documentation and GUI to show blacklists that support the :NULL tag}
{TODO -cNew : Added the TagAndQuarantine option to SpamFilter.ini file}
{TODO -cNew : Added the SPAMTagPrefix option to SpamFilter.ini file to customize spam tag prefix in subject}
{TODO -cNew : We are now writing in the activity log when a quarantined email is forced-delivered}
{TODO -cFix : The Do not quarantine and :NULL option for the attachment blacklist is now working correctly}
{TODO -cNew : Added ini option for DoNotSendNDROnQuarantine - this will cause all emails to be accepted without returning an error code to the remote server, thus preventing NDR's to be sent to the sender}
