Which mailserver do you want to send mail external mail out through? If SpamFilter you need to configure your SpamFilter to allow your Windows 2003 (Active Directory) domain users to authenticate. If the Mercur Mailserver is what you want to handle outgoing mail then you will need to configure your mail client (Outlook/Outlook Express etc) to use outgoing port 2525. M |

sorry, but i have only the eval version 2.7.1.532
in this version i cant set active directory users to authenticate. Why i cant download the actual version to evaluate ? we need a good Spamfilter, but without a test of the actual version we cant check if its good enough to buy it. |

philippr,
The errors appear to indicate IP/port conflicts. Please note that Windows does not allow two applications to use the same IP/port combination. In your case, SpamFilter and Mercur cannot both listen on port 25 on the same IP address. If you configured SpamFilter to listen on port 25, and Mercur Mailserver to listen on port 2525, that should instead be ok. The error in the logs means that SpamFilter is not able to connect to your destination SMTP server. If your destination is your external IP on port 2525, please verify that Mercur Mailserver is indeeed listening on that port. You can do that by opening an MSDOS prompt on the server itself, and issuing the command: telnet aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd 2525 where aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the IP you used in the "destination smtp server" field in SpamFilter. You should see Mercur's welcome banner. If not, please zip and email us the entire SpamFilter's activity logfile to support at logsat dot com so we can troubleshoot further. SpamFilter v3 behaves no different than v2.7 in this case, as authentication is not used when forwarding emails to the destination smtp servers. |
