I've used Logsat for more than a year now - now I am leaving this nice software for a 'cuda box. Why ?

I've had loads of problems with "time-out" mails - mainly mails with attachment times out before they are received. I've been in a positive dialog with Logsat and received several suggestions, but now I've had enough. I've testet the software for the bug under several conditions:

  • win 4.0 / 2K / 2003
  • several serveres - DL320's and common PC's
  • infront af the firewall, on the DMZ and LAN
  • behind a DSL connection

And of course loads of combinations..........

Last Friday I replaced the Logsat server with an Barracude box and since then I havent experiend any time-out mails.

That's is - goodbye Logsat - you've bloced ½ million SPAM mails - but timed out on ~10 a day. Life's cruel, so are users :-)

Cya

By any chance were these attachments that timed out, were they larger than 10 megs?

some where, but mainly it was just normal "attachments" - that could be a signature containing an image or an word, PDF, whatever document.

Didnt find any system in size, kind, sender - nothing, nada ....

That is weird. I run my spam on a desktop, mind you I only get 10,000 messages per day but about 8000 of those are spam, and I have zero problems. You must have had some kind of a config issue.
