Topic: Spamfilter and Windows 2003 SBS (Exchange)Posted: 21 January 2004 at 11:51am |

Hi, I'm having difficulty getting Spamfilter to work correctly with Windows 2003 SBS. I have one server with 2 IP addresses bound to a single NIC. They are 192.168.0.101 and 192.168.0.100. Spamfilter installs, however I don't see it listed as a service in Windows 2003 Small Business Server. I've configured Spamfilter to listen on IP 192.168.0.101 on port 25, and to forward to the Exchange Server on IP 192.168.0.100. Since it doesn't show up as a service I start it manually. When started manually It has socket bind problems because Exchange has bound to both nics on port 25. I have to manually stop the Exchange SMTP service, start Spamfilter, and then restart the Exchange SMTP service. It works ok in this configuration. I've looked through the Exchange SMTP service and I've set it to start using only the 192.168.0.100 address. However, each time it still blocks spamfilter. I'm assuming it's still binding to both nics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Heath. |

One of the issue's you have is called 'socket pooling'. The following two links will help you fix that situation with two IP's and the binding of the ports. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;281760&Product=exch2k http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/iis6socketpooling.html bill |
