    Posted: 14 November 2003 at 2:46pm

Dear Friends,

Readme.html says

The tblQuarantine has a Deliver field and an Expire field with default values of 0. Changing the Deliver field to 1 will cause SpamFilter to deliver that email within 10 seconds. Changing the Expire field to 1 will cause SpamFilter to erase that email from the database within 1 hour. The web pages simply update these two fields to deliver and delete the emails.

I have set one of the Quarantined mail's "Deliver" field value to 1 by using a update query, but the mail never reaches the Inbox. I am using (v1.2.0.178). When i use the "Deliver Selected" from the Quarantine option , the mail gets delivered immediately and the record gets vanished from DB.

I would be thankful if someone can point out if any particular setting are to be done to successfully push the message from Quarantine Table to a rcpt Inbox.

Thanks in Advance

Regards

Thirumal,

The readme.html applies to the retail version of SpamFilter. From the downlaod page of SpamFilter you'll see the follwoing note:

=======
In the free version of SPAMFilter, the web interface will not deliver emails to the recipients
=======

That is the only feature disable in the free version you are using. You will not be able to trigger delivery of emails to the user's mailboxes with the free build.

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for the reply. I would like to be more clear of my requirements. We have our Own SMTP engine to receive emails and there are some other modules which will do the job of parsing etc, and put the mail in a SQL  Table and the user has been provided a web interface to access mails. We are evaluating SpamFilter and the below requirement is highly important.

when enabled Quarantine the SpamFilter stores the blacklisted mails in tblQuarantine.

we would like to develop a module( VC++) of our own which can set the Flag to 1 in "Deliver" filed of tblQuarantine and as soon as the SMTP Server Receives such mails , those mails will be parsed into some other table say BulkMail on a scheduled basis. We will provide a option in the current web interface say "Bulk Mails" so that the end user wont miss any emails.

As a initial experiment I am using a update query from SQL Query analyser and making one of the record's Deliver field value to 1, but the SpamFilter is not pushing the mail to the the users inbox and the record remails as it is for ever.  I hope this should be possible in Unlicenced version. Infact the SpamFilter too might be setting the flags when I push a mail from Quarentine Option.

Thanks for your patience.

Best Regards

You just need to understand that the .178 version you have doesn't run a query on the database every 10 minutes to find ones to deliver, so even though you flip the flag, SpamFilter isn't running a check on that flag to force a delivery.  Purchase the software and the latest version will do what you want.

Thirumal,

As mentioned before, the delivering of quarantined items to the user's mailboxes by use of the web interface (and equally by modifiying DB records outside of SpamFIlter) is the only feature that is disabled in the free eval version.

If you need to test that feature, there is a workaround that can be used to test the proof of concept. The licensed versions of SpamFilter check the quarantine table every 5 seconds to see if there are quarantined emails to be delivered. If it finds any, they will be delivered immediately. In the free builds, the "Deliver Selected" button under the quarantine tab has to be clicked on in order to start this process. But once a single email is selected and marked for delivery, SpamFilter will deliver any other emails marked for delivery. You can still test your process, but you will have to manually click on the above button in the SpamFIlter GUI to actually deliver the emails. Of course this limitation is not be present in the retail version.
