Is it possible to use Spamfilter together with a command-line Antivirus program, which scans also attachements ?

Wolfgang, Currently SpamFilter does not support interfacing with anti-virus products. Please note however that incoming messages are temporarily stored in the SpamFilter\queue directory as plain msg text files. If an antivirus product is able to scan those files and able to detect the virus in the attachment, SpamFilter "should" have no problems if the file is deleted by the antivirus. I have Anti-virus scan running right behind Spamfilter. Norton Anti-Virus (one of the best IMHO) is set to run on another port
other than 25 (ig. 125) and SpamFilter then forwards to that port.Hence, the trail becomes:Inbound Email -> SpmaFilter -> Anti-Virus -> Real Email server. SpmaFilter -> Anti-Virus -> Real Email server. SpmaFilter -> Anti-Virus -> Real Email server. Anti-Virus -> Real Email server. Anti-Virus -> Real Email server. Real Email server. Real Email server.Quite effective, and I've had no breaches. (caught quite a bit!)Plus it has "live update" features that keep the definitions
current. The only drawback is that the "originating server" as seen by
the Real Email Server is the AV server. Not unmanagable, log files
trace back quite nicely.

You've mentiond in other posts that virus hook integration was next on the list after th web interface was completed. Do you have an ETA on when this feature would be available? Thanks |
