    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/member_profile.asp?PF=25">dcook</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 5536<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 03 March 2006 at 6:10pm<br /><br />We use mailmax for our hosting server.&nbsp; I have several clients on dynamic dsl and cable links whose isp is port blocking.&nbsp; We set up an additional port to bypass the isp's port blocking.&nbsp; <br><br>I set up rules to allow my local private network to be able to send email without authenication, while all public addresses must use smtp authenication.<br><br>My spamfilter forwards email to mailmax on our private network so the mailserver never has to authenicate. We use a simular setup for web forms whick also connect to the mail server through the private network.<br>]]>

You need to find a mail server that has a good&nbsp;content filtering system&nbsp;that allows&nbsp;you to set&nbsp;a rule to only accept&nbsp;mail for delivery if the sender is an authenticated user or the IP address is on your local IP (or acceptable IP) list.</P><P>We have to keep our&nbsp;physical mail servers port 25 open for our users to authenticate and to send outgoing mail. We are not an ISP but a webhosting company and can't use strictly IP rules to prohibit sending. Works great for us.</P>]]>
