By default SpamFilter will only accept and relay mail addressed to*your* local domains. If you wish to use SpamFilter to relay out emailto the internet, you will have to add the IP address that is allowed torelay to an IP whitelist in SpamFilter.

In your case, things are a bit easier, as you have the web appinstalled on the same server as SpamFilter. By default, SpamFilter"trusts" itself, so any emails originating from the server will bypassall filtering rules, and so will be able to be relayed to the internet.

We have a web application that runs on the same server as our SpamFilter. Our web application submits mail to our mail server for delivery, as does SpamFilter. We have a problem where if our mail server is down, the web application does not deliver the customer's mail. Is it ok for me to deliver outbound mail to SpamFilter, and let it cache / handle the outbound message by delivering it to the mail server? I tried it briefly and received the line:

01/30/06 13:20:56:828 -- (872) Bypassed all rules for: someuser@hotmail.com from al@somedomain.com ( We Are Sender)

Looks like it worked to me, but did I do this right, and will it always work?
