Author: LogSat
Subject: 5117
Posted: 30 March 2005 at 8:31pm

jacksun,

I'm afraid you have a problem with your SpamFilter configuration. Fromthe log you posted we can see that your SpamFilter is receving emailsfrom 10.1.1.160. That will cause all IP and DNS-based filters to fail. This is because SpamFilter is seing your internal translated IPs ratherthan the real IP address of the sender. SpamFilter needs to see the*real* IP address of the sender in order to be effective.

In this example SpamFilter sees 10.1.1.160 instead of our server's IPof 209.26.140.x. As such, the SPF filter will fail because SpamFilteris seing an email from user@logsat.com originating from 10.1.1.160.Since 10.1.1.160 is not authorized by our SPF DNS record to send emailson behalf of logsat.com, the test will fail. All your DNS MAPS filterswill also fail since SpamFilter will not see the real IP of thesender...

We strongly recommend you reconfigure your firewall so that SpamFilterwill not see the translated external IP addresses, but rather will seethe real IP of the remote server.
