Anyone had any lucking finding a solid method of filtering the GIF emails that are becoming common?  We're regularly getting emails that have a GIF image at the top of the body, usually talking about some stock or explosive growth or something....and then a lot of gibberish/looks legit text below the image??

Thanks!

What version of SpamFilter are you using? From build 3.0.0.547 SpamFilter is able to scan in images themselves for spam content:

// New to VersionNumber = '3.0.0.547';
{TODO -cNew : Added a new filter to detect spam in images embedded inside emails}

And how about the animated gifs that they send now ? What does spamfilter see ? There are multiple colored bars that become the ... mailto:!@spam - spam add ?

Does the image filtering work by OCR and compairing with the blacklist keywords list?

We cannot provide too many details on what algorithm(s) we use to perform the image filtering, sorry. There are spammers who read these forums, and we don't want to make life easier for them to find a way around the filters.
