We're seeing email from blocked countries coming through. Not all the time, but enough that we're seeing a climb in our spam being delivered. Japan seems to be the worst failure. Any ideas?

Question,

How recent is your "GeoIP.dat"?

You can get the latest at http://www.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoIP.dat.gz" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - http://www.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoIP.dat.gz" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - http://www.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoIP.dat.gz

Edgar,

How are making the observation that "emails from blocked countries are coming thru"?

Please note that if the email sender appears as "jim@somewhere.jp" that doesnot mean that the remote server is in Japan. The address can be fake, and/or the address may be real, the user be in Japan, but the server used to relay that message may be in another country.

SpamFilter will only look at the IP address making the connection when determining the country of origin.
