Good Morning Forum,

After installing (fresh install - I did have an old 1.x version which I first uninstalled, including manual registry cleanup) SpamFilter 2.0.1.302 I get this message when starting:

I noticed that someone has had the problem before - but there was never any solution posted in the forum. Any ideas anyone?

This appears immediately when starting (nonservice) Spamfilter for the first time, before any settings are made - and any time thereafter (seems to happen no matter what settings I make).

If I go to SETTINGS - BAYESIAN UTILITES and click on "Dump Corpus" - I get an access violation:

Access violation at address 00591ACF in module 'Spamfilter.exe'. Read of address 00000008.

The only registry Spamfilter settings I didn't manage to remove from the old installation was the LEGACY_SPAMFILTER ones.

The folder "Corpus" contains a) an empty subfolder "queue" and b) a corpus.ini file with this content:

[Messages]
Spam=1
Good=1

And that is it, nothing else.

So - does this mean that Spamfilter works - but before being "trained" it will read non-existing files etc and create exceptions? Or is it more serious?

Carl,

Can you please try to stop SpamFilter, delete the SpamFilter\corpus directory, then restart SpamFilter. This will create a new corpus, as it appears that the one you are using has become corrupted as it's causing errors.

Well I have actually tried that before - and it doesn't help. As I described - the problem occurs with a totally clean install of Spamfilter - so there isn't anything in the corpus directory that could be corrupt. As described before - there is only one empty folder (queue) and a very simple .ini file.

Currently there are a number of .token files but the error still appears. If I remove the corpus directory, a new will be created with the empty queue etc - and the error is there again.

If you stop SpamFilter, delete the corpus directory, restart SpamFilter, a new corpus directory should be created with 3 files in it (corpus.ini, db.dat and db.dat.prb). Can you please email us the logfile for the day you try the above procedure and the corpus directory with three files mentioned?

Hi - OK, I've done that (which is exactly what I described before).

No such files are created. Only an empty folder "Queue" and the previously mentioned ini file is created inside the new "Corpus" folder.

There are also a lot of exceptions in the log file - apart from the one mentioned before, these seem to occur after SpamFilter has been running for a while, they typically look like:

08-06-04 00:13:34:142 -- Exception occurred during TimerMinuteTimer: Invalid pointer operation

SpamFilter seems to work, except for the Bayesian bit which I suspect is not working at all.

I've posted the entire Spamfilter folder to your support, this message is only here as a reference for others with possibly similar problems.
