Hi Roberto,

Is it possible to include in the next version an option that when a message exceed the max size it put in the logs the size of the e-mail. Example:

When I receive a big e-mail (my limit is 4096Kb) the logs show:

11/25/03 22:54:26:841 -- (1356) EMail from mailto:xxx@xxx" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - xxx@xxx to mailto:yyy@yyy" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - yyy@yyy exceeds the max msg size - rejected.

Would be nice if it display:

11/25/03 22:54:26:841 -- (1356) EMail from mailto:xxx@xxx" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - xxx@xxx to mailto:yyy@yyy" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - yyy@yyy exceeds the max msg size - rejected. Size: 8073Kb

Thanks,

Abel.

I would be interested in size processing as well, but in different context:

- My organization receives very large (and I mean really large, can be hundreds of MB - mine models) mails. I need a way to bypass the filter for mails larger then x MB (where x is configurable)

- the latest MS patch like virus flood was of a fairly narrow size band (144-146 kb). It would have been good to have a quarantine rule to stop this size from coming through, I have more then doubled my rules file to stop (most of) it

Thanks

Cris

Cris,

SpamFilter bypasses keyword checking for emails where the text portion (text or html encodings) are over a certain size (customizeable in the spamfilter.ini file). Attachments are not usually scanned. There is not an option to bypass all filtering rules for emails over a certain size.

RE: your 2nd question, we do not corrently plan on implementing rules for filtering emails solely based on size other than rejecting emails over a max size.

Abel,

That is a good suggestion. I've added it to the wish list and will try to implement it in the next build.
