If I deliver an email thats sitting in the quarantine, it does a whitelist with the from email and to email seperated by a pipe. So say an email sitting in the quaratine was on a dnsbl, I went in and delivered the email. Is this autowhitelist with the TO and FROM going to make a difference if the email was in the quaratine because it was blacklisted? I would think the IP of the connecting server would need to be whitelisted but maybe you guys refence the whitelist file when checking the dnsbl's? Thanks |

The idea is that the EXACT TO person wanted mail from the EXACT FROM person and next time a message comes in where the FROM / TO match, it is sent right on through. You do not want to whitelist the IP for 2 reasons. First, if the IP was blacklisted in the first place, some spammer probably lives there. Second, there is no guarantee that the same person will mail from the same IP so the whitelist would not help.

Thanks for Responding Dan. So when an email is forced through the quarantine, and the TO FROM whitelisting takes place, the next time that same TO FROM occurs, it will come through, regardless if the FROM is coming from a DNSBL server?

Yes, Correct. But it must be the EXACT to / from combo do many list servers won't work. I usually parse out the super long "FROM" fielts and create a *@ddd.com|abc@ddd.net type of entry.
