Hello,

I just wanted to make sure of a few things before I upgraded.

We currently have SpamFilter for ISP version 3.5.4.704 and want to upgrade to 4.0.0.772.  Just wanted to check the following:

1. To retain our current configurations after upgrading (eg. Regular Expressions, white lists....) I believe that it is sufficient to make a copy of the current SFI folder and extract the contents of the Win32 new 4.0.0.772 directory in the ZIP to the same destination as the old 3.5.4.704 and make sure that the original SFI maintained. Is this correct?

2. We currently save quarantine messages into an MYSQL database located on another server? How can I retain this connection when I upgrade?

3. Is there anything else I should do to make sure I retain our current configurations?

Regards

Peter

Peter,

To upgrade SpamFilter, in 99.9% of the cases (including the upgrade from v3.5 to v4.0) the simplest way to proceed is to download the binaries-only from our website. You can then simply stop SpamFilter, replace the two executables (SpamFilter.exe and SpamFilterSvc.exe) with the ones in the update, and restart SpamFilter. There is never a need to reboot and/or make any registry changes.

Thank you for your quick reply. Just one last doubt. I assume that by simply replacing the SpamFilter.exe and SpamFilterSvc.exe executables our current database configuration will be retained. Is that correct?
